  • American College of Rheumatology - American College of Rheumatology is dedicated to the advancement in the knowledge and treatment of rheumatologic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, etc. Dr. Romano has been a fellow of the college since 1986.

  • National Pain Foundation - The National Pain Foundation is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1998. It is an on-line educational support community for patients in pain, their families and physicians.



  • American Pain Foundation - American Pain Foundation is an independent non-profit corporation founded in 1997. It serves people who have painful conditions through information, advocacy and support. It also raises public awareness and promotes research.



  • American Academy of Pain Medicine - The American Academy of Pain Medicine is a medical specialty society representing physicians practicing in the field of pain medicine. It is involved in education, training, advocacy and research in the specialty of pain medicine.



  • Journal of Musculoskeletal Pain - This journal is dedicated to reporting original research and commentary regarding painful, musculoskeletal conditions primarily soft tissue in nature. There are regular columns on fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, and other soft tissue rheumatic syndromes. Dr. Romano writes a regular column in this journal on non-articular (i.e. soft tissue) rheumatism.



  • International MYOPAIN Society - The IASP was founded in 1973. It is an organization that fosters collaboration between scientists, clinicians, health care providers and policy makers to stimulate and support the study of pain and to translate that knowledge into improved pain relief worldwide.



  • American College of Physicians - The American College of Physicians is a professional organization dedicated to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of health care by fostering excellence and professionalism in the practice of medicine. It is the nationís largest medical specialty society.
